XYO Network is the world's first blockchain-based, people-centric location verification network. This technology will drive the future of the world. As the running fuel of XYO Network, we call it XYO. The XYO Network has been working to allow developers, such as those writing smart contracts for blockchain platforms, to interact with the physical world in an API-like manner. The XYO Network is the world's first oracle protocol that enables real-world transactions between two entities without a centralized third party. Our virtual network allows developers to perform location verification in a trustless manner, creating a new protocol with promising future applications.
The XYO Network will build on the existing infrastructure of over 1,000,000 devices in global circulation across our consumer-facing pan-connected business channels. XY's Bluetooth and GPS devices allow everyday consumers to place physical tracking beacons on things they want to track (like keys, luggage, bikes and even pets). If they misplace or lose such an item, they can see its exact location through a smartphone app. In just six years, XYO Networks has created the world's largest consumer Bluetooth and GPS network.
The XYO network consists of four main components: sentinel nodes (data collectors), bridge nodes (data relayers), archive nodes (data storage) and oracle nodes (answer aggregators). Sentinel nodes collect location information through sensors, radio, and other means. Bridge nodes are responsible for fetching this data from sentinel nodes and providing it to archive nodes. Archive nodes are responsible for storing this information for analysis by oracle nodes. Oracle nodes are responsible for analyzing the heuristic location data provided by archive nodes in order to generate query answers and assign them accuracy scores. The oracle node then feeds these answers back to the smart contract (thus, the oracle node acts as an oracle). The accuracy score, or chain of origin score, is determined through a series of zero-knowledge proofs known as a proof-of-origin chain. The chain guarantees that two or more pieces of data come from the same source without revealing any underlying information. Each component in the query path generates its own proof of origin, which is then linked to each component the data arrives at. Proof of Origin is a novel formulation that builds a chain of cryptographic proofs along the path of relayers in the network to provide highly trusted real-world data. This proof-of-origin chain encapsulates our confidence in a piece of location data into the first devices that collected it. We will explore how Proof of Origin works in the following sections.
In order to establish a decentralized consensus mechanism among oracle nodes, the XYO network will rely on a public, immutable blockchain—XYOMainChain, which will store query transactions and data collected from oracle nodes and its associated source score. Before we dive into the functional details of the overall system, we will clearly define the responsibilities of each component in the network.
Sentinels – Heuristic Witnesses
They will observe and vouch for the certainty and accuracy of the heuristic by generating temporal classifications. The most important aspect of Sentinel is that it generates ledgers where Diviners can prove origin from the same source by adding a country of origin to them.
Bridges – Heuristic Transcribers
They securely pass heuristic ledgers from Sentinels to Diviners. The most important aspect of the Bridge is that the Diviner can ensure that the heuristic ledger received from the Bridge has not been altered in any way. The second most important aspect of bridges is that they add an additional certificate of origin.
Archivist
The Archivist component stores heuristics in a decentralized form, the goal is to store all historical ledgers, but there is no requirement for that. Even if some data is lost or temporarily unavailable, the system will continue to function, but with reduced accuracy. Archivists also index ledgers so they can return a range of ledger data as needed. Archivists only store raw data and are paid only to retrieve it. Storage is always free.
Diviners
A Diviner answers a given question by analyzing historical data stored by the XYO network. In order to achieve this, the heuristics stored in the XYO Network must have a high level of Proof of Origin to measure the effectiveness and accuracy of the heuristics by judging witnesses based on their Proof of Origin. Given that the XYO Network is a trustless system, Diviners must be incentivized to provide heuristic honest analysis. Unlike Sentinels and Bridges, Diviners use proof of work to add answers to the blockchain.
Airports
One of the biggest concerns for airline travelers is lost or stolen luggage. Counting all bags passing through TSA checkpoints, gates and aircraft is important not only to travelers, but to the overall safety and security of the entire airport. XYO Network can provide independently verified location data that can help minimize mishandled baggage and ultimately save travelers and airport staff time and money spent tracking down lost bags.
Hospital
From medical equipment to the identification of patients and staff, one misplacement or mistake can mean the difference between life and death. XYO Network can provide error-free, verified location reporting, which is critical in such a sensitive environment. With the unique blockchain technology of XYO Network, it is possible for hospitals to reduce errors and improve efficiency. The implications could reduce prescribing dosing errors, prevent unnecessary procedures, and ultimately save lives.
E-Commerce
The XYO Network rewards nodes within the network with XYO tokens to incentivize them to report location and file accounts. For example, when a last-mile courier like a UPS driver encounters an XYO Network node on its route, that node will record its XYO Network ledger for archiving. Leveraging cryptoeconomics in this way exploits a key feature of blockchain technology — that it is a trustless, decentralized system. This means it can provide third-party verification and a level of reliability that current tracking systems simply cannot provide.
Insurance
From cell phones to sports cars, owned assets that are constantly on the move are prime candidates for loss and theft protection insurance. The XYO Network can report the location of insured items by providing independently verified and trustless location data. Being able to recover an item reported as lost or stolen provides satisfaction to the insured party, while the ability to locate the item in the event of a false claim protects the insurer from fraud. Thus, XYO Network's decentralized blockchain technology enables both insurers and insureds to have access to the same verification data and ultimately creates unprecedented accountability for both parties.
National Security
The presence of government-regulated firearms in locations where weapons are strictly prohibited inherently presents considerable risk. Tight security controls are imperative at major transportation hubs (i.e. international airports) where traffic volumes are high and potential hazards are inherently obvious. The "XYO Network" can confirm the exact location of a weapon by reporting independently verified trustless location data. Through its decentralized blockchain technology, the XYO Network is able to provide an unrivaled element of security and accountability to arguably the most purposeful and riskiest institutions in the world.
Rental Cars
There are many businesses that derive their primary source of income from the rental of goods. To reduce the replacement cost of lost or stolen items, it is especially important to be able to track the location of rental items. XYO Network can provide independently verified location data that helps minimize cargo loss, ultimately saving the rental industry millions of dollars annually. The incorporation of XYO Network's unique blockchain technology also increases the overall efficiency of rental companies as less time is spent on lost procedures.
Drones
Where will drones fly? How to prevent accidents from happening? How to confirm package delivery? The XYO Network can provide independently verified location data to help drones stay within approved flight paths, avoid collisions with moving and stationary objects, and report package locations at critical points. The trustless location verification provided by "XYO Network" can eliminate this requirement, making the overall process and user experience for customers smoother. The incorporation of the XYO Network's unique blockchain technology will maximize the efficiency of the implemented drone systems, which is a must for any newly formed industry to thrive.
