The cryptocurrency Libra is the native currency of the Libra blockchain. The Libra blockchain is an open-source blockchain protocol led by social media company Facebook. Libra was originally called FacebookCoin or GlobalCoin. As the licensing system of the Libra Association, it cooperates with major financial institutions, such as: Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, Ebay, Coinbase, Lyft, Uber, etc. The goal of the project is to transform the digital economy by bringing financial technology and banking services to the global population, especially the unbanked. The Libra coin is a stablecoin backed by a variety of stable assets such as bonds and national fiat currencies.
