Horizon Protocol is a new DeFi platform that facilitates on-chain transactions of synthetic assets representing the real economy. The Horizon Protocol seeks to provide exposure to real-world asset risk/return profiles through smart contracts on the blockchain. A fork of syntix, Horizon Protocol will leverage the time-tested derivatives liquidity protocol to bring interoperability, scalability and new tradable, real-world derivatives to the DeFi ecosystem. The Horizon Protocol is committed to the Binance ecosystem and a native implementation of the Binance Smart Chain (BSC), providing users with speed and reliability currently lacking on the Ethereum blockchain.
The Horizon Protocol Token (HZN) drives economic incentives for Horizon Protocol participants. HZN serves as collateral as part of the synthesis of tradable synthetic assets (zAssets), drives the reward system, and ultimately facilitates the DAO that will govern the entire protocol and future development. By forking from the syntix protocol, the Horizon protocol is able to build on the advances pioneered by others while focusing on solving challenges related to scalability and affordability.
