Flexa is the first online/offline shopping app created specifically for cryptocurrency consumers. The Flex Network Protocol (FNP) is a new open protocol designed to help cryptocurrencies to complete payments in stores around the world through wallets. Flexacoin is an ERC-20 token that can be used for mortgage dividends on the Flex network platform to provide platform transaction throughput. Plus, token holders get access to massive discounts and member-only benefits.
Flexa is finally launching outside of the United States for the first time, offering instant in-store cryptocurrency payments to residents of the Great White North, from Yukon to Nova Scotia, Vancouver to St. John's. New York-based blockchain payments startup Flexa has announced their first-ever launch outside of the United States. Starting today, Canadian residents can also instantly make in-store crypto payments, from Yukon to Nova Scotia, Vancouver to St. John’s.
But let's start from the beginning. In April, the startup raised $14.1 million from big investors including Pantera Capital, 1kx, Access Ventures, and others. Their token, called Flexacoin, is an Ethereum-based ERC-20 token designed for use by developers and corporations. The value of merchant payment processing on the Flexa network.
In May of this year, they launched an app that allows consumers to use their passwords at major US retailers such as Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, GameStop, Nordstrom, Office Depot, and Whole Foods Market.
Transactions can be made in three easy steps: add encryption to the SPEDN wallet, select the necessary brand and scan the code. To pay for purchases, customers can use bitcoin (BTC), bitcoin cash (BCH), ether (ETH) and Gemini’s stablecoin, the Gemini dollar (GUSD).
Since then, their store network has expanded and some partnerships have deepened. In partnership with Gemini, they launched support for Litecoin (with the Litecoin Foundation) and Zcash (with the Electric Coin Company). They also joined the Messari registry and released a beta app for Android on the Play Store, as the previous app was only available for iOs.
The entrance to Canada from the company is considered complete and it will be done in two stages, they said.
The first phase consists of opening up the existing Flexa network to Canadian residents who can already try downloading the SPEDN app from the App Store or Google Play and access the SPEDN Shop pop-up at the Blockchain Futurist conference in Toronto on August 14th.
The second phase includes offering instant crypto payments online in early September at more than 7,500 stores across Canada, including some of the nation's largest retail, entertainment and fuel brands.
Of course, Canadian Flexa users can also use the network while in the US, and vice versa, without worrying about exchange rates or conversion fees.
According to the announcement, Flexa wallet deposits will be securely protected and through the already mentioned insurance in cooperation with Gemini.
They said: "We believe that seamless, free cross-border commerce is one of the most impactful use cases that cryptocurrencies can provide. Since Flexa does not require the use of credit cards, debit cards or bank accounts, we will not Bound by the legacy financial system or its inherent fiat lack.”
To bring Flexa to Canada, the company has partnered with Coinsquare, Canada’s largest and most secure cryptocurrency exchange. Toronto, in recent years, Coinsquare has created one of the most cooperative and original exchange operations in this space. From Flexa, they said they have been working hard to expand their relationship as they get closer to releasing Flexacoin collateral and the Flexa Wallet SDK for iOS and Android.
Based on the announcement, it appears that Flexa will not be limited to the US and Canada. Their intentions include fulfilling their own ambitions: "to make cryptocurrencies spendable everywhere and rebuild payment acceptance for the modern age".
However, they know they are the first to start, but they would like to have the possibility to share more information about the Flexacoin collateral and the availability of the Flexa Wallet SDK in the nearest future.
